What is Science On
Wheels?
Science On Wheels
is the part of Pacific Science
Center that can come to you! We
bring exciting, hands-on science
shows, exhibits, and workshops to
schools and community events around
the Northwest.
What types of events do you
do?
Most
of our programs are at schools, but
we also travel to science fairs,
daycares, community centers,
festivals, fairs, fundraisers,
family nights, and birthday and
holiday parties.
What kinds of programs does
Science On Wheels
offer?
We
perform shows with audience
participation, deliver workshops
(classroom lessons, Science After
School and Storybook Science) and
display interactive exhibit sets.
Topics include Blood and Guts
(physiology), Physics On Wheels,
Space Odyssey (astronomy),
Engineering, Rock and Roll
(geology) and Mathfinder
(math).
How much does Science On Wheels
cost?
It
depends on the programming. Fees
range from $375 for a science show
and $1,875 for a show, exhibits,
and 15 lessons. Pricing depends on
the number of staff required,
distance to your location, and the
amount of time we will be there.

How far will Pacific Science
Center travel?
We
typically visit anywhere in
Washington State, Oregon, and
Idaho. Contact us directly to
discuss a travel rate if you would
like us to travel farther
away.
Do we go on the
vans?
No,
our staff members unload all the
materials and set up at your
location.
What age range do you
serve?
We
have programs that are enjoyable
for preschoolers and up. Please
call our registrars to determine
which programs would be most
appropriate for your event.
Are your programs aligned with
Washington State Science and Math
standards?
Yes.
Will you perform for
adults?
Yes.
We have some fantastic programs
that adults love.
How far in advance do I have to
book a program?
Two
weeks is the minimum, but you can
book up to a year in
advance.
Is there a limit to the number
of people who can attend Science On
Wheels events?
We
limit shows to 400 people, exhibits
to 60 visitors at a time, and
individual workshops to 32
students. We can present up to 15
workshops per day.
What are the Science On Wheels
Instructors'
qualifications?
All
Science On Wheels teachers have
Bachelor's degrees, either in
education or science. Many are
certified teachers or have a
Master's degree in teaching. All
staff have experience working with
kids.
Can you do outdoor
events?
Yes.
Most of our programs require
electricity and we prefer to have
access to water. If you book our
exhibits, we require a sheltered
area. Please note: if you book the
portable planetarium, we must be
inside.
