Science and Society
Science On Tap
Pacific Science Center is committed to
advancing the public's understanding of science and
contributing to the development of a scientifically
literate society. As part of that commitment, we support
and sponsor a number of lectures in the Seattle area. Some
are held at our facility, others are conducted at various
locations.
One very special lecture series we support is
Science on Tap - A
Seattle Science Cafe. Science on Tap is more than just a
lecture, it's a place where anyone can come explore the
latest ideas in science and technology in a relaxed
atmosphere. It's a forum for discussing science issues with
local scientists. Meetings usually last about one to two
hours. The speakers give a short talk about their area of
interest, followed by small group discussions, then there
is time for a question and answer session and general
discussion of the topic with the speaker and the audience
at large.
Monthly meetings take place the last Monday of the month at
the Ravenna Third Place Bookstore in Seattle at the corner
of 20th Ave NE and NE 65th Street. With the help of Pacific
Science Center and →KCTS, a second session is held at T.S.
McHugh's on Lower Queen Anne on the first Tuesday of the
month.
