Mathfinder is
one of Pacific Science Center's most requested Science
on Wheels portable exhibitions. Since 2000,
Mathfinder has annually visited more than
100 schools and community events aboard our Science On
Wheels vans. Each Mathfinder exhibition
collection includes a total of 21 activities that encourage
students to investigate patterns and spatial understanding,
probability, number value, and sequences and combinations.

Interactives:
Fractal Generator
Fractals are complex, self-similar patterns; no matter how
much they are magnified, they always look the same! Press
the Fractal Generator's buttons to change the patterns
shown.
It Ate My Sock!
Spin the dryer with the press of a button, then pick a sock
out of the dryer's drum. How many spins before you have a
matching pair?
One in a Million
Astronomers use big numbers to describe how many stars are
in the galaxy. Chemists use them to enumerate the number of
atoms in a sample. Gain an appreciation for big numbers by
sorting through one million colored beads in search of the
single black one.
The Way the Ball Bounces
Balls ricochet through the Galton Board and land in
vertical collection zones. Though each ball's path is
random, the pattern of collected balls always seems to form
a bell curve.
