Mix A Little Danger With Your Summer Science

Why not spice up your summer with a little danger? Danger and science? We have both at Pacific Science Center! First, take a leisurely bicycle ride, then get a lesson on the science of blowing things up!

High Rail Bicycle

High Rail Bicycle
Our High Rail Bicycle is now in operation on the upper courtyard (weather permitting). It seems simple enough: peddle the bike around in a circle. thing is, the circle is 15 feet above the chilly waters and rocks of our pools below. Not only that, the circle is a rail one inch thick! There is plenty of science involved with the bicycle. It involves a lever and fulcrum and some basic physics. This exhibit has been in operation for many years and so far nobody has ever fallen. So far.

Launch Into Summer With Danger Science!
Danger Science!
Feel the power of explosions, rockets and propulsion! The basics of rocket science are introduced in this not-to-be-missed open-air demonstration offered annually on our bandstand above the ponds. (Warning: spectacular effects may leave some onlookers drenched with inspiration.) Danger Science Blasts off at 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday July 4 through the end of August, weather permitting. If weather does not permit, join us for a classic Pacific Science Center demonstration on the Building One Demonstration Stage. Also note, Danger Science will not perform the weekend of July 25-27 due toFestival of the Fountains.
