If you've visited our currentTreasures of NOAA's Ark exhibit, then you know about America's oldest scientific agency that is celebrating its 200th birthday this year. But there is much more to learn about this incredible organization and we will do just that during a special weekend event coming up in June.

Get To Know NOAA Weekend

This special event weekend is packed full of activities that will take you from the edge of space to the bottom of the ocean. Learn all about fishing, pressure, bio-diversity, and much more with our NOAA carts. Build your very own anemometer. Listen to stories from our local NOAA experts. Learn sea survival tips upon a NOAA life raft. And compete in our boat races!

Activities
  • NOAA Survival at Sea Demonstration.
  • Story time with local children's book authors - Taylor Morrison (Saturday) and Jessica Naomi Black (Sunday). These authors will read their stories to our visitors and engage them in a craft activity.
  • NOAA scientists available to talk about various aspects NOAA.
  • Know Your Knots - Learn how to tie knots that have been used for centuries.
  • Sea Shanty performances - 3 times daily (Saturday & Sunday). Saturday performances by the Shifty Sailors, Sunday performances by Broadside.
  • Boat Races in the Ponds.
In our planetarium you'll see "Navigating the Stars" and on our science demonstration stage watch Ice Under Fire and Amazing Air.

We hope you can join us for a weekend of discovery. Entry to all of the weekend events is included with the price of general admission. Free for Pacific Science Center members.
