Chief Financial and Operating Officer

Management Appointment Recognizes Jacob's Leadership, Accomplishments and Commitment to Community

With a rich background in non-profits and accomplished career in finance, marketing and education, Michal Anderson Jacob joins Pacific Science Center as its chief financial and operating officer.

"I am very much looking forward to helping advance our mission and strategic initiatives. The Center was important to my science learning," said Michal "I brought my children here and look forward to helping build a great organization that will ensure our strong future. Pacific Science Center is a beloved institution in our community--I am delighted to be a part of it."

Michal's most recent experience comes from KCTS Television where she was vice president and chief financial officer since 2004. There, her responsibilities included finance, technology, legal affairs, business management, human resources, facilities, web and development, as well as fundraising activities, major giving, planned giving, membership, direct marketing and television pledge.

"Michal brings a strong record of accomplishments with her from her background with several substantial non-profit organizations, coupled with great energy and passion for our mission," said Bryce Seidl, president and CEO for Pacific Science Center. "I have great confidence that she will quickly become a key player on our strong leadership team."

Michal's strength is her wide-ranging experience including serving as vice president of finance and property for Child and Family Service, a $35 million human services organization with over 800 employees in Honolulu, Hawaii that owned nine properties and operated 36 facilities including maintenance and space planning.

In addition, she was director of finance for Southwest Counseling and Development, a mental health and homeless provider in Detroit, Michigan. And customer services director for the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses where she published two magazines, held national educational conferences and administered professional certifications in Aliso Viejo, CA.

Also, as an adjunct professor at Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu, Michal taught Accounting for Governmental and Nonprofit Entities and Principles of Accounting to both financial and non-financial professionals.

Michal is a graduate of the University of Washington and earned her MBA at National University in Irvine, California.

Michal and her husband have three children and live in West Seattle. Their varied locations were the consequence of a military career for her husband who is now a helicopter pilot for Airlift NW and a substitute math and science teacher, allowing him to participate in his pre-military career of teaching.
